Maywood Sitters Network

Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Maywood for using the Sitters Network during its Controlled Beta.

Version 1.1.1

Who these terms are with

These terms are an agreement between you and Maywood Holdings, LLC d/b/a Maywood Concierge, 320 Boston Post Road, Suite 180, Darien, CT 06820 ("Maywood", "we", "us"). They apply when you create an account on the Maywood Sitters Network or use it.

If you do not agree with them, do not create an account. If you already have one, you can ask us to close it at help@maywoodsittersnetwork.com.

What the service is — and what it is not

The Maywood Sitters Network is an availability and coordination service. It helps identify which sitters may be available for a date and time you ask about, and it lets our operators coordinate that request.

We want to be exact about what we are not, because it affects what you should rely on:

  • We do not employ sitters. A sitter is not our employee, worker, or contractor, and we are not anyone's agent.
  • We do not vet, screen, check the background of, verify references for, certify, approve, or guarantee any sitter, and nothing in this service should be read as saying we do.
  • We do not arrange, confirm, supervise, or take payment for care, and we do not set or suggest rates.
  • We do not release your contact details to another member, or theirs to you, except in one specific circumstance: when a sitter tells us they are interested in a specific request and the family then chooses that sitter for it, we share one phone number each way between them. The Privacy Notice describes exactly when and how.

Because we do none of those things, the service cannot tell you that a sitter is suitable for your family. It can only tell you who may be available.

Your responsibility for the care you arrange

This is the most important term here. Any decision about who cares for your children is yours. If you and a sitter arrange care, that arrangement is directly between the two of you: we are not a party to it.

You are responsible for satisfying yourself about anyone you allow to care for your children — including meeting them, asking for and checking references, and making whatever other checks you think appropriate. We recommend you do all of that. The service does not do it for you and does not represent that anyone else has.

Sitters are likewise responsible for deciding whether to accept any arrangement, and for the care they provide.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Accounts are for adults; a child may not create or use one.

If you enrol a household, you must be a parent or legal guardian of the children you enrol, or otherwise have authority to provide information about them. You may enrol only your own household.

During this Controlled Beta, one account holds one role — either a family account or a sitter account, not both.

Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address. Keep access to that mailbox secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you. Tell us at help@maywoodsittersnetwork.com if you think someone else has used your account.

Give us accurate information and keep it current. Other people rely on it — a wrong town or a wrong date wastes a sitter's time, and wrong information about your household could put a child with a sitter who is not expecting them.

Having an account is not being on the network

Creating an account and completing your profile does not put you on the network. Taking part requires a separate participation grant, which the service records explicitly and can withdraw. You will always be able to see your standing when you sign in.

Not having a grant is not a mark against you and is not an application under review. It means the conditions for taking part are not met yet, and those conditions may change as this Controlled Beta continues.

Using it properly

When using the service, do not:

  • give false information, or enrol a household or children that are not yours
  • use it on behalf of someone else without their knowledge
  • try to obtain another member's contact details, address, or identity through it
  • use it to advertise, recruit, or sell
  • attempt to get around the access rules, submit automated traffic, or probe it for weaknesses
  • use it for anything unlawful, or anything that puts a child at risk

If you believe a child is at risk of harm, contact your local emergency services first. Then tell us at help@maywoodsittersnetwork.com so we can act on our side.

This is a beta

The service is in a Controlled Beta. It is limited in area, limited in size, and it will change. Features may be added, altered, or withdrawn, and we may pause or end the beta. We do not promise that it will be available at any particular time, that any sitter will be available for any request, or that a request will lead to care being arranged.

Suspending or closing an account

You can ask us to close your account at any time, and we will follow the process in the Privacy Notice.

We can suspend or close an account, or withdraw a participation grant, if these terms are broken, if information given to us is false, if we are asked to by a lawful authority, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary for someone's safety. Where we can, we will say why.

Your content

What you write into the service — your profile, your requests, notes on them — stays yours. You give us permission to store it and to use it to run the service for you, and nothing more. We do not publish it, and we do not use it to advertise.

What we promise, and what we do not

We will run the service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, the service is provided as it is: we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we make no promise about any sitter, any family, or any care that is arranged.

We are not responsible for the conduct of any member, for anything that happens during care you arrange, or for any agreement you reach with another member. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability arising out of the service is limited to any amount you have paid us for it — which, during this Controlled Beta, is nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

These terms carry a version. If we change them in a way that affects your rights or what you are agreeing to, we will raise the version and tell you before the change applies to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, and the courts of Connecticut have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
